- The disposal of waste at ACRP is undertaken in a way which meets sanitation and hygiene needs, and which fulfils legislative and regulatory requirements.

Procedure
- Paper sacks (Kleensak type) are requisitioned by Units, and are supplied by Stores.
- Unit waste is bagged in paper sacks.
- Unit waste is collected by inmates and taken to collection point.
- Bagged waste is removed by contractor.
- Sensitive document waste is collected in secure bins located at the Admin Office and on each accommodation level. This is regularly collected for destruction by approved contractor.
Shredding equipment is available in Admin area.
- Medical waste is bagged in rubbish bags, then placed inside a yellow hazard bag and collected weekly by contractor.
Sharps containers are held in Medical and each Housing Control.
- Sewage is pumped from the site processing plant and into the public main system.
- Kitchen grease traps are pumped out by contractor at monthly intervals, or as required.
- Acid waste, oil and other industrial waste are all removed from the site by approved contractors using appropriate methods.
- Feminine hygiene units are serviced by contractor as required.
Key Roles And Responsibilities
Unit Officer
- Requisition paper rubbish sacks as required.
- Oversee prisoner use of rubbish facilities.
- If required, supervise inmate collection and transportation of rubbish, and / or sorting of rubbish.
Unit Manager
- Sign Unit requisitions
- Oversee Unit cleanliness.
Manager Finance
- Establish and maintain contracts for all waste removal.
