- All chemicals and Cleaning Agents are stored in containers of original packaging where practicable.
- All containers are correctly labelled to identify their contents.
- All manufacturers’ instructions are kept in a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) folder in accordance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
- All restricted substances are kept locked in a designated cupboard.
- Chemicals and/or Cleaning Agents are not mixed or stored with food products.
- Redundant containers are returned to Stores.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is identified, supplied and worn as per the MSDS sheet.
- All manufacturers’ guidelines are followed.
- CIE will be responsible for the safe storing of all chemicals and cleaning agents related to their industries.
- Chemical spills are notified firstly to the Manager Assets & Property, and a member of the Health and Safety Committee. For required action, refer to PPM E.02 Emergency Plan and E.04. Hazard Management.
