  1. All chemicals and Cleaning Agents are stored in containers of original packaging where practicable.
  2. All containers are correctly labelled to identify their contents.
  3. All manufacturers’ instructions are kept in a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) folder in accordance with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
  4. All restricted substances are kept locked in a designated cupboard.
  5. Chemicals and/or Cleaning Agents are not mixed or stored with food products.
  6. Redundant containers are returned to Stores.
  7. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is identified, supplied and worn as per the MSDS sheet.
  8. All manufacturers’ guidelines are followed.
  9. CIE will be responsible for the safe storing of all chemicals and cleaning agents related to their industries.
  10. Chemical spills are notified firstly to the Manager Assets & Property, and a member of the Health and Safety Committee. For required action, refer to PPM E.02 Emergency Plan and E.04. Hazard Management.
