As per PPM, plus:

Main facility

The NRCF Library will have the following major services:

  • A lending library;
  • Non-lending audio and audio visual resources; and
  • Access to external lending sources.

Tanekaha and Weka

  • The Youth Units will have a mobile library service to a classroom or central meeting area on a regular weekly regime.
  • Both units will be serviced by a mobile library service in their unit locations once a week.

Library Operation

Operating Days and Hours

  • Access will be by unit and nominated time.
  • All units (except Youth and Self Care) will have access one day per week, three times during the nominated day – morning (10:00 – 12:00), afternoon (14:00 – 16:00), and early evening (17:30 – 19:30).
  • Day Four will be devoted to the Youth and Remand Units with a trolley and demand–from-a-list service.
  • Three hours each Saturday morning will be set aside for the self-care areas.
  • A day will be reserved for internal administration and prisoner support.

Lending Policy

  • The lending period will be restricted to a maximum of two weeks for printed material and a week for other resources.
  • The audio, audio-visual system and computers will be controlled by a booking system through the library station.
