Recruitment process
| NOTE: This is a general recruitment process. Recruitment process for some roles may vary. |
How do I apply for a job?
All our roles are advertised under current vacancies.
You must provide:
- Application Form - a completed Application for Employment form, telling us the position you have applied for, your contact details, and if relevant declaring any criminal convictions you have (see Criminal conviction checking process). The Application form can be sent electronically with your CV and Cover letter.
- Curriculum Vitae - a CV with your complete employment history, work experience, and qualifications. Your CV should display evidence of the competencies used for selection. (see job description)
- Referees - the names and contact details for at least two referees who can be contacted to verify the information you have provided about your skills, abilities and attributes. We expect to be able to speak with your current manager if you reach the final selection stage. You can include names of referees with your initial application or supply them later if you have been shortlisted.
- A covering letter - explaining, with specific examples, why you think you are well suited to this role.
What happens after I send my application?
If you are short-listed you will be contacted to arrange a suitable time for an assessment or an interview. If you are not short-listed you will be advised of this by letter.
Process for short-listed applicants
Once you are short-listed you will be selected through a process of:
- Assessment - you may be tested on your technical skills, such as your written communication and analytical skills. Some roles may also include psychometric and cognitive assessments to assess personal qualities and cognitive ability.
- Panel Interview - gives you the chance to expand on the information you have provided in your CV, including your skills and experience and how they relate to the role. You will also have an opportunity to ask the panel members questions about the position.
- Reference checks - Referee checks with the people you have nominated in your CV who can verify the information you have provided about your skills, abilities and attributes.
Note: if you are currently employed (including employment in the Department of Corrections), a reference check with your current manager will be conducted.
Support People
You can bring support people with you to your interview. If you intend to do this please let the appointing manager know in plenty of time before the interview so that the proper arrangements can be made for them.
Return of Curriculum Vitae
Your curriculum vitae will not be returned unless you ask the Recruitment Co-ordinator to do so at the time of application for the position.
All information received is held securely and will be destroyed after the recruitment process is complete.
