The award recognises the exceptional effort over the last 12 months to recruit over 900 new staff.

“We’re one of the largest employers in New Zealand with around 9,000 staff, 91 percent of whom work on the frontline with offenders in prisons and the community,” says Corporate Services Deputy Chief Executive Richard Waggott.

“Congratulations to the recruitment team and everyone who has been part of recruiting, training and supporting our new staff. I also want to acknowledge the huge efforts of those in Corrections Services who helped make this happen.

“We now manage over 10,700 prisoners, which means we’ve had to recruit not only the right people but more of them so we can keep managing our prisons safely and protect our staff.”

Corrections is still recruiting in both prisons and probation, so if you’re interested or know someone who might be, go to frontline jobs at Corrections.
