  • Our work

We provide a range of programmes that help to reduce re-offending.

Each week we manage around 8,500 people in prisons and around 31,000 people serving sentences and orders in our communities.

Our staff are committed to supporting people to address their offending and gain skills that will help them lead crime-free lives.

Corrections protects the public of New Zealand from those who can harm them, by:

  • making sure people we manage comply with the sentences and orders imposed by the Courts and New Zealand Parole Board
  • providing rehabilitation programmes, education and job training that will turn lives around and break the cycle of re-offending.
