Community Work Rules
Community Work Rules are made under section 31 of the Corrections Act 2004. If you break the rules you could be breached and face a fine or imprisonment.
These rules keep our community work centre running smoothly and safely.
While you're doing community work
- be on time.
- show respect to others, no swearing or acting 'aggro'.
- Do what we ask you to do. Follow instructions and be safe.
- Work steadily. You'll get some breaks, so keep working till you are asked to stop.
- Don't accept or ask for money or gifts.
- Wear tidy clothes, and shoes or boots ready for work; if your jewellery isn't safe you can't wear it.
Don't bring these things
- food - we'll feed you.
- Dangerous items.
- Cellphones, or electronic gadgets.
- Gang patches or colours.
- Expensive clothing or other stuff (we don't pay if it's damaged, lost or stolen).
Smoking
- No smoking, inside or outside, unless we say it's OK.
Alcohol and Drugs
- We have zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs at community work.
- Do not turn up under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is unsafe for everyone.
- Possession of drugs is illegal. Do not bring alcohol or drugs to community work.
Health and Safety
- Safety is everybody's responsibility. Take care that anything you do or don't do won't harm you or someone else.
- Tell us if you become sick or hurt yourself at community work.
Medicine
- Show us if you have medicine with you. You might have to give your medicine to us to look after. Don't share your medicine with others.
Seatbelts
- You have to wear a seatbelt in the van; it's the law.
These rules apply to everyone at all times. If you're not sure about any of them, just ask.
