Our Code of Conduct

Working at Corrections: Our Code of Conduct policy describes the high standards of behaviour we expect of everyone who works at the
Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Corrections), whether you are a new or existing employee, a contractor, consultant, or volunteer.

It applies to you if you work at our sites, or you are involved in our business. For the purposes of this policy, all people in these groups are referred to as ‘workers’.

All workers can refer to this policy and the examples of conduct or behaviours that do not meet our expectations if:

  • you find yourself in a situation where you are not sure what to do
  • you feel under pressure to act in a way that does not meet the expected standards of behaviour
  • you have concerns about the behaviour of other workers.

You can also seek advice from your manager or another manager. Alternatively, you can use the Speaking Up channels.

Working at Corrections: Our Code of Conduct is underpinned by six additional People Policies. These policies are aligned with the guiding principles and provide clear pathways to support systems, and related information.
