11.4 Gang Membership

There were 156 remand inmates whose records indicated that they were members of gangs. This equates to 14 percent of the remand population, compared to 11.5 percent of the sentenced population. As for sentenced inmates, most of the remand gang members belonged to either the Mongrel Mob or Black Power.
